Multiple Wins at Connexis Infrastructure Training Excellence Awards
02/11/2022
A huge whakamihi (congratulations) to our team members who were recognised at the Annual Connexis - Infrastructure Industry Training NZ Excellence Awards in Horowhenua on the 29th September 2022.
The awards celebrate the best and brightest trainees in the Electricity supply and Telecommunications industries.
The Telecommunications Trainee of the Year award was given to Telecommunications Apprentice, Jack Conchie.
Since starting at Downer last July, Jack has already gained experience in our copper and fibre Outside Plant, Build and Inside Plant Team teams, all while completing his National Certificate in Telecommunications Level 3!
Our talented Energy team from Whanganui were also recognised for the talent and skills they showcased at the Annual Connection Line Mechanic and Cable Jointing competition in Levin earlier that week.
Line Mechanics and Cable Jointers compete in a high-pressure environment to showcase workmanship and skills such as installing hardware, cables and concrete poles, high voltage and low voltage jointing.
Ben Wilson came first in Electrical Theory and third in cable jointing.
The entire team came third overall in the Line Mechanic competition and first in Cable Install.
Paul Clutterbuck also won the prize for Team Leader of the event.
Well done team, a great effort by all!
